What happened

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt briefed the media at the White House on September 22, 2025, opening with the President’s week: a major announcement that afternoon on the childhood autism epidemic “alongside his top health advisors,” then departure for New York and the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, where the President would tout “the ending of seven global wars and conflicts,” as she stated the record, and host bilaterals with the UN Secretary-General and the leaders of Ukraine, Argentina, and the European Union, plus a multilateral meeting with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan. Thursday would bring President Erdogan of Turkey to the White House, and Friday the Ryder Cup on Long Island.

Leavitt credited the President’s executive order the previous week with preventing a Long Island Railroad strike ahead of the tournament, quoting golfer Bryson DeChambeau’s praise, and cited economic data as the administration presented it, including mortgage rates at a three-year low. On Charlie Kirk, she said the assassination “was an attack on everything that makes the United States of America the greatest country on earth. But that attack has completely failed.” In the shutdown fight, she quoted Senator Chuck Schumer’s own earlier words — “A shutdown would mean chaos and pain and needless heart break for the American people” — back at the Democrats.

Why it matters

This briefing is the administration’s own preview of the UNGA week that produced the address and the round of bilaterals paged alongside it in this collection — the schedule, the seven-wars framing, and the autism announcement all enter the record here first, in the Press Secretary’s words.

Scoreboard watch

This briefing is a scoreboard reference point: the Press Secretary’s September 22, 2025 framing of the President’s record (seven wars ended, as stated) and the week’s announced schedule, against which the week’s outcomes are checked.
