What happened

President Donald Trump delivered remarks at the White House on July 30, 2025, launching the administration’s health-technology initiative, carried on the White House channel. He opened with the second-quarter figures as he presented them — GDP growth of about 3 percent, “consumer spending is up, business investment is way up, domestic manufacturing is way up,” government spending cut nearly 4 percent for a second straight quarter, nearly 600,000 private-sector jobs added while the federal workforce was reduced by 70,000, and foreign imports down 30 percent while domestic auto production surged 36 percent.

“Today, the dream of easily transportable electronic medical records finally becomes a reality,” the President then announced. “For decades, America’s health care networks have been overdue for a high-tech upgrade… Moving from clipboards and fax machines into a new era.” Under CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz’s leadership, he said, the administration was “officially launching the CMS Digital Health Tech Ecosystem,” with the biggest names in health care and technology agreeing to industry-wide standards so records transfer between doctors on different systems, patients can access their own records, and providers can “kill the clipboard.” The system, he said, would be entirely opt-in with no centralized government-run database. Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks, and DOGE’s Amy Gleason attended, with representatives of Apple, Google, Samsung, Amazon, OpenAI, Anthropic, Epic, Oracle, and athenahealth, as the President named them. Secretary Kennedy and Dr. Oz also spoke.

Why it matters

The July 30 launch is the health-technology pillar of the MAHA program in its operational form: interoperability standards agreed by the major record-keepers and platforms rather than imposed by a new federal database — the architecture choice the President stated on the record, and the baseline for the ecosystem’s later rollout pages.

Scoreboard candidate
