What happened
President Donald Trump participated in a roundtable with first responders and local officials in Kerrville, Texas, on July 11, 2025, after touring the area devastated by the Hill Country floods, carried on the White House channel. “We just were making a little tour of the area. It’s hard to believe the devastation. Trees that are a hundred years old just ripped out of the ground. I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said. “The first lady and I are here in Texas to express the love and support and the anguish of our entire nation in the aftermath of this really horrific and deadly flood.”
The President praised the response — “the people here, first responders, the sheriff’s office, all of the police, law enforcement, they’ve done an unbelievable job” — and noted searchers were still looking for the missing, “mostly” children. Governor Greg Abbott, at the same table, thanked the administration for the Coast Guard deployment and for granting his major disaster declaration request on the day of the flood: “This is the fastest that I’m aware of any administration responding so swiftly,” as the Governor stated it.
Why it matters
The Kerrville roundtable is the federal-response record of the July 2025 Texas floods at its first week: the President on the ground with the responders, the disaster declaration already granted, and the state’s own assessment of the federal speed stated on the record by its governor.
