What happened

President Donald Trump held a Cabinet meeting open to the press at the White House on July 8, 2025, carried in full on the White House channel. “We’ve had a tremendous six months,” he opened, before turning first to the Texas floods: he asked Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem — “the first person I saw on television was you” — to report. Noem described the federal deployment in support of the state’s response: CBP teams in on rescues and road-clearing, FEMA moved “to an enhanced level immediately,” and resources flowing once the President signed the major disaster declaration, as she described the sequence.

In the question period, the President objected to a question on Jeffrey Epstein — “Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy’s been talked about for years… I can’t believe you’re asking a question on Epstein at a time like this when we’re having some of the greatest success and tragedy with what happened in Texas” — and Attorney General Pam Bondi answered on the record: her February remark that a client list was “sitting on my desk to be reviewed” meant “the file along with the JFK, MLK files as well,” and the tens of thousands of videos in the file “turned out to be child porn downloaded by that disgusting Jeffrey Epstein. Child porn. Never going to be released. Never going to see the light of day,” as she stated it.

Why it matters

This is the full-cabinet record of the administration at the six-month mark, taken in the middle of the Texas flood response — and the sitting where the Attorney General gave her fullest on-camera account of the Epstein file review, with the President’s objection to the subject stated beside it. Both are carried here as the participants stated them.

Scoreboard watch

This meeting is a scoreboard reference point: the President’s six-month assessment of his administration, stated July 8, 2025, and the Attorney General’s account of the file review, each as stated by the speaker, to be checked against the published record.
