What happened
President Donald Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sara Netanyahu at a dinner at the White House on July 7, 2025, carried on the White House channel (uploaded July 8). “It’s an honor to have Bibi and Sarah with us, friends of mine for a long time, and we had a tremendous success together and I think it will only go on to be even greater success in the future,” the President said. At the dinner, Netanyahu presented the letter he had sent to the Nobel Prize committee nominating the President for the Peace Prize — the presentation the White House also published as a short clip the same night.
Asked about the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the President said: “I don’t think there is a holdup. I think things are going along very well.” He recounted the June missile exchange that closed the Israel-Iran fighting — “14 missiles were shot and every single missile was shot out of the air” after Iran gave notice of the timing, as he described it — and said “things are going to be really settled down a lot in the Middle East.”
Why it matters
The dinner is the public centerpiece of Netanyahu’s July visit: the Nobel nomination presented on camera, and the President’s on-record assessment that the Hamas ceasefire track had no holdup — a dated claim the subsequent negotiation record can be checked against.
Scoreboard watch
This dinner is a scoreboard reference point: the President’s July 7, 2025 statement that there was no holdup in the Israel-Hamas ceasefire track, as stated by the President, to be checked against the ceasefire record. The White House’s Nobel-nomination clip of this dinner is recorded as an alternate of this page.
