What happened
President Donald Trump opened his guided walking tour of the Alligator Alcatraz detention facility in Ochopee, Florida, on July 1, 2025, carried on the White House channel as Part 1. “I thought this was so professional and so well done that you should come and look at it as opposed to standing around and not knowing where we are,” he told the traveling press, crediting Secretary Kristi Noem, Governor Ron DeSantis, “and the whole group” — “It’s really government working together.”
Between tour stops he was asked about the Senate vote on his tax bill then underway, calling it, as he stated it, “the greatest tax cut in the history of our country” and warning that failure would mean, in his words, a 68% tax increase. Asked about reporting on an app that lets users track where ICE agents are, Secretary Noem said the administration was “working with the Department of Justice to see if we can prosecute them for that,” arguing the app actively encouraged people to avoid law enforcement operations, as she stated it.
Why it matters
This short first segment frames the tour as the administration framed it — a federal-state build presented as a model — and carries the Secretary’s on-record statement of a possible prosecution over ICE-tracking reporting, a press-and-enforcement dispute stated by the participants themselves.

This segment is a scoreboard reference point: Secretary Noem’s July 1, 2025 statement that the Justice Department was reviewing possible prosecution related to the ICE-tracking app, as stated by the Secretary, to be checked against any subsequent Justice Department action.
