What happened
President Donald Trump held a press briefing at the White House on June 27, 2025, carried in full on the White House channel, hours after the Supreme Court ruled on nationwide injunctions. “This morning, the Supreme Court has delivered a monumental victory for the Constitution, the separation of powers, and the rule of law,” he said. “In striking down the excessive use of nationwide injunctions to interfere with the normal functioning of the executive branch, the Supreme Court has stopped the presidency itself” — as he described what the injunctions had done.
The President argued the birthright-citizenship order could now move forward: “That was meant for the babies of slaves. It wasn’t meant for people trying to scam the system and come into the country on a vacation,” he said of the Citizenship Clause, listing other policies he said could now be pursued, including ending sanctuary-city funding, suspending refugee resettlement, and freezing funding he described as unnecessary. Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom he introduced at the briefing, said of the ruling: “No longer will we have rogue judges striking down President Trump’s policies across the entire nation,” citing, as she stated it, the 6-3 opinion by Justice Barrett holding that district courts lacked the authority at issue.
Why it matters
This briefing is the administration’s formal first response to the nationwide-injunction decision — the legal turning point the President said would unblock a list of his enjoined policies, stated by the President and his Attorney General on the day of the ruling.
Scoreboard candidate
Scoreboard candidate: the Supreme Court’s June 27, 2025 decision limiting nationwide injunctions, and the President’s same-day commitment to promptly file to proceed on the enjoined policies he listed, including birthright citizenship — flagged for the scoreboard editors; the entry itself remains review-gated.
