What happened

President Donald Trump headlined a White House event for the One Big Beautiful Bill on June 26, 2025, carried on the White House channel, joined by what he called the biggest group of Cabinet members yet assembled at one of his events — naming Secretaries Rubio, Bessent, Hegseth, Burgum, Collins, Duffy, Lutnick, McMahon, Rollins, and Turner, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, among others.

“Thank you all for being here to support one of the most important pieces of legislation in the history of our country,” he said, explaining that separate bills had been combined into one because, in his words, “there’s something for everybody.” He said a trade deal with China had been signed the day before and that a very big deal with India might follow, as he stated the status. On the bill itself, he warned: “If the bill doesn’t pass, there’ll be a 68 percent tax increase,” and promised it would “make the Trump tax cuts permanent, expand the child tax credit, and we will deliver no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security for our great seniors,” as he listed its provisions. He also said the bill cut, as he stated the figure, $1.7 trillion while, in his words, leaving Medicaid alone and strengthening Medicare and Social Security.

Why it matters

This event is the public whip-count moment for the bill a week before passage: the full Cabinet staged behind the President, the 68-percent warning as the cost of failure, and the provision list he would repeat at the July 3 celebration in Iowa — the before picture to that signing.

Scoreboard candidate

Scoreboard candidate: the One Big Beautiful Bill advocacy event of June 26, 2025, including the President’s stated $1.7 trillion in cuts and the no-tax-on-tips, overtime, and Social Security provisions as he listed them — flagged for the scoreboard editors; the entry itself remains review-gated.
