What happened

President Donald Trump took questions from the press before departing the White House for the NATO summit on June 24, 2025, carried on the White House channel, hours after announcing the Israel-Iran ceasefire. “I’m not happy that Israel’s going out now. There was one rocket that I guess was fired overboard. It was after the time limit and it missed its target. And now Israel’s going out. These guys got to calm down. Ridiculous,” he said.

“I didn’t like plenty of things I saw yesterday. I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal. They didn’t have to unload, and I didn’t like the fact that the retaliation was very strong,” the President said, adding: “I’m not happy about that Israel either.” He then turned to the trip: “I’m going now, as you know, to NATO. Some of you are going with me, and I think it’s going to be successful,” as he stated his expectation.

Why it matters

This departure gaggle is the President’s unscripted first reaction to the ceasefire’s first breach — criticism directed at Israel’s post-deal strikes in his own words, delivered on the White House lawn on his way to the alliance summit.

Scoreboard watch

This gaggle is a scoreboard reference point: the President’s June 24, 2025 criticism of Israel’s post-ceasefire strikes, as stated by the President, to be checked against the ceasefire’s subsequent holding record.
