What happened

President Donald Trump participated in the Invest America Roundtable at the White House on June 9, 2025, carried in full on the White House channel, to present the Trump Accounts provision of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill with Speaker Mike Johnson, Chairman Jason Smith, members of Congress, and the Invest America CEO Council. “The Trump accounts, as they call it, pilot program, which will make it possible for countless American children to have a strong start in life at no cost to the American taxpayer. Absolutely no cost,” he said.

“Here’s how the accounts work. For every U.S. citizen born after December 31st, 2024, before January 1st, 2029, the federal government will make a one-time contribution of $1,000 into a tax-deferred account that will track the overall stock market,” he said, explaining the accounts would be private property controlled by the child’s guardians and open to additional private contributions from family, friends, parents, employers, churches, and foundations. “This is a pro-family initiative that will help millions of Americans harness the strength of our economy to lift up the next generation,” as he described it, citing research that children with savings accounts are more likely to graduate, buy a home, and start a business, as he stated the findings.

Why it matters

This roundtable is the fullest on-record explanation of the Trump Accounts design at its introduction: the $1,000 seed, the 2025–2028 birth window, guardian control, and the corporate-contribution model, stated by the President alongside the business leaders pledging to fund their employees’ children.

Scoreboard candidate

Scoreboard candidate: the June 9, 2025 Trump Accounts pilot terms as announced by the President — a one-time $1,000 federal contribution for U.S. citizens born after Dec. 31, 2024 and before Jan. 1, 2029 — flagged for the scoreboard editors; the entry itself remains review-gated.
