What happened

President Donald Trump took questions on Air Force One on June 6, 2025, carried on the White House channel. On the returned deportee Kilmar Abrego Garcia, he said the man “should have never had to be returned” and praised Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling, as he stated his view. On his posted suggestion that canceling Elon Musk’s contracts could save money, he said: “We’ll take a look at everything. He’s got a lot of money. He gets a lot of subsidy. So we’ll take a look at that. Only if it’s fair. Only if it’s fair for him and for the country. I would certainly think about it. Yeah. But it has to be fair,” and added: “Honestly, I’ve been so busy working on China, working on Russia, working on Iran, working on so many — I’m not thinking about Elon, you know, I just wish him well.”

On the China talks opening in London, he said: “We’re very far advanced on the China deal. We wanted clarification,” describing a call with President Xi of “more than two hours,” as he stated it: “It’s a complicated deal, but it’s a deal that’s going to bring us a lot of money and a lot of everything else. And we get along very well with President Xi and with China.”

Why it matters

This gaggle catches three live threads in the President’s own words on one flight: the Abrego Garcia return, the Musk rupture at its peak — with the contract review conditioned on fairness — and the London round of the China negotiation framed as clarification of an advanced deal.

Scoreboard watch

This gaggle is a scoreboard reference point: the President’s June 6, 2025 statements that the China deal was “very far advanced” and that any review of Musk’s contracts would proceed only if fair, each as stated by the President, to be checked against the London talks and the contract record.
