What happened
President Donald Trump addressed thousands of guests at a Summer Soirée on the White House lawn on June 4, 2025, carried on the White House channel. “I’m delighted to welcome to the White House the thousands of proud American patriots,” he said. “We’ve never done this before. You know that, right? They didn’t do it. The previous administration wouldn’t have thought of doing it.” He called it “the largest crowd so far that we can imagine to be on this lawn in many, many years,” as he described the turnout, and thanked the members of his cabinet in attendance and welcomed the new White House interns on their first day, singling out intern Julian Nicholas, whom he identified as golfer Jack Nicklaus’s grandson.
Reviewing his Middle East trip, the President said: “We went to Qatar, Saudi Arabia. We went to UAE. We went to three stops. We brought back 5.1 trillion dollars,” as he stated the figure, adding that the orders included “200 Boeing aircraft. And we got one for free. For the nation,” describing the Boeing 747 given to the United States Air Force for use as Air Force One until the new aircraft are ready, as he stated the arrangement.
Why it matters
This soirée is the White House’s open-lawn thank-you to its supporter base in the President’s own framing: the election sweep recounted, the cabinet presented to the crowd, and the Middle East trip’s headline figure restated to the home audience.
