What happened
President Donald Trump participated in a signing ceremony and exchange of agreements at Lusail Palace in Doha, Qatar, on May 14, 2025, during the Qatar state visit, in a ceremony carried on the White House channel.
The ceremony’s first announced agreement was an aircraft purchase from Boeing: as the proceedings announced, “we will see the signing of the agreement of buying aircraft from Boeing. His Excellency, the Emir will sign from the Qatar side, and Kelly Ortberg will be signing on behalf” of Boeing — the Boeing chief executive signing opposite Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, with the President looking on as the agreements were exchanged.
Why it matters
The Qatar leg’s formal deliverable: agreements signed and exchanged in the President’s presence, led by the Boeing purchase — the commercial centerpiece of the Doha stop, ahead of the President’s troops address and business roundtable the following day.
