What happened

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt briefed members of the new media in the South Court Auditorium on Apr. 29, 2025, carried on the White House channel - the second official influencer briefing, on the day she said “officially marks a 100 days of promises made and kept by President Trump.”

Leavitt presented the economic record as she stated it: “President Trump has created 345,000 jobs since taking office in January,” the most recent jobs report had come in nearly 100,000 above economists’ predictions, and “9,000 manufacturing jobs have been created and added to the economy already since January,” against what she said were 6,000 manufacturing jobs lost per month in the final two years of the prior administration. She also said remote work among federal employees had fallen more than 16 percentage points from March of the prior year, under the President’s return-to-office initiative.

Why it matters

The briefing is the White House’s 100-day jobs case in its own numbers - the 345,000-jobs headline and the manufacturing comparison - delivered on the anniversary day itself to the new-media audience.
