What happened

President Donald Trump hosted the 2025 Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, at the White House on Apr. 28, 2025, carried on the White House channel. “It’s an honor to be with this incredible group of champions… to celebrate Super Bowl 59 champion, the Philadelphia Eagles,” the President said, announcing that the team would be taken to the Oval Office afterwards, with a present for each player.

The President recognized owner, chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie, general manager Howie Roseman, and head coach Nick Sirianni, who he said “proved the doubters wrong and brought the Vince Lombardi Trophy back to Philadelphia and convincingly.” He singled out running back Saquon Barkley - “he is a handsome guy, but I wouldn’t want to tackle him” - recounting that Barkley had accepted his offer of a ride on Air Force One the day before, and called over the Eagles’ head of security, Dominic DiSandro, to say a few words.

Why it matters

The Eagles’ visit is the championship-celebration set piece of the spring: the Super Bowl LIX winners honored at the White House, with the President’s Barkley anecdote and the Oval Office walk-through recorded on the official broadcast.
