What happened
President Donald Trump hosted an Easter prayer service and dinner at the White House on Apr. 16, 2025, carried on the White House channel, in the middle of Holy Week. Paula White, senior advisor for the White House Faith Office, told the gathering the Faith Office had brought over 1,000 faith leaders through the White House in the administration’s short time, as she stated the figure, and led the service’s reflection on Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday.
The President thanked Pastor White and Reverend Franklin Graham and the clergy and friends of faith in the room, and thanked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was present. “Being here with you in the middle of Holy Week as we remember two of the most monumental events in all of history, the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” he said, calling the White House a place without equal and what it represents.
Why it matters
The dinner is the Faith Office’s flagship Holy Week event in the chronicle’s record - the institutional debut, on camera, of the White House faith operation the President created, with its 1,000-faith-leader throughput stated by its own senior advisor.
