What happened
Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a joint press availability with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness in Kingston, Jamaica, on March 26, 2025, according to the State Department broadcast, which carries the full availability. The Kingston stop opened Rubio’s March 26–27 swing through Jamaica, Guyana, and Suriname.
Why it matters
Jamaica was the first stop of Rubio’s first Caribbean trip as Secretary — the region where his family’s own story and his Senate record both run deep — and the joint availability with Holness is the trip’s fullest statement of the administration’s Caribbean agenda.
