What happened
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth held a press conference at U.S. Africa Command headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, on February 11, 2025, published live by the Department of War. The Stuttgart stop opened the first overseas trip of his tenure, ahead of the Brussels ministerial and contact-group meetings paged separately on this site.
Why it matters
The first press event of a Secretary’s first overseas trip is the opening public record of the tenure — the Africa Command stop is where that record begins.
